"World Enough and Time" - Episode 11

Post by LastOfTheSonics on Sat 17 Jun 2017 - 8:51

Out of context, the title makes no sense and has a large syntax error. However, when given background (the poem "To His Coy Mistress"), it becomes slightly more obvious why the title is fitting. Read it here. But take note of the first verse over the others, as it seems to be similar to the Doctor and Missy in an implicit sense.

The cast for this episode is very limited indeed. It is simply the TARDIS crew, the TWO Masters, and another one of Darr-hen's species called Jorj. There's also a Nurse and a Surgeon. And Mondasian Cybermen.

I'm excited for this episode, and I feel as though it will live up to last series' penultimate episode "Heaven Sent".

World Enough And Time - Episode 11

Post by Admin-Emperor Dalek on Sun 18 Jun 2017 - 20:01

The BBC have announced this will be an hour long and have released this image, similar to the 50th anniversary special the Day of the Doctor.

It's a good theory, and it fits in. But I strongly hope he is wrong. That would suck if it were true. We've wanted a two master story for ages.

In the TV trailer for World Enough and Time, has anybody else noticed that Bill has an object resembling a cyber chest unit on her torso?

It wouldn't be the first time they've dropped a spoiler in a trailer.

When Missy says "Hello I'm the Doctor" is this Moffat trying to get us used to a female Doctor?

Deary me it had better not be. It wouldn't be the first time though. Clara did it in Flatline and Death in Heaven.

Obviously with Missy it will work because we all like her and we're used to her already.

I was excited to see the Master has his laser screwdriver yet. Also I think Jorj (the blue guy) is actually the Master. Somehow he is disguised as him is what I believe. Especially when you compare their collar designs.

I don't think that fan theory about the Master being Missy's evil manifestation is correct at all now.

It's definitely not under cyber control whoever it is. Otherwise it probably would have attacked the Doctor by now.

In the trailer, you can see Bill has a cyber chestplate looking item bulging from under her blanket.

Re: "World Enough and Time" - Episode 11

Post by LastOfTheSonics on Sun 25 Jun 2017 - 9:07

"I waited for you..."

Despite how predictable this scene was, it was still quite emotional. However despite how moving it was, I have slight problem with it. The Mondasian Cybermen in the Tenth Planet said only their brains were organic still, so how come Bill's eyes are still under the cybermask? Or is it just supposed to represent how "human-like" the cybermen really are and the eyes aren't actually there?

Favourite lines:

"Now don't be a b*tch" - Missy
"He was my man crush" - The Doctor about the Master
"I'm the computer guy!" - Nardole
"Just promise you won't get me killed." - Bill (dramatic irony)
"I'd call it a genesis. Specifically, the genesis... of the Cybermen" - The Master (I love hearing him say it)
"I waited for you..." - Bill (most emotional line)

I loved how the sonic screwdriver became a red marker pen. Hopefully another marketing opportunity? I'd buy it.

The pre-title sequence immediately reminded me of the Tenth Planet's exterior setting, the South Pole.

Overall score: 8.5/10

(My biggest problem: Moffat clearly doesn't listen to Big Finish... he has just retconned the DW canon. The cybermen already have a genesis story! It's called "Spare Parts".)

Yes but the tv series is aimed at a wider audience, I have never listened to spear parts.
A few things I didn't like was the Mondassian Cyberman stomping and I had hoped Missy would turn out to be the Rani. I didn't like the Doctor not being sure if the Master was a man when they were younger...all this gender swapping annoys me...I hope this is not saying the next Doctor is a woman.

By a long stretch, "World Enough and Time" and "Spare Parts" CAN both be canon. This means that the Fifth and the Twelfth Doctors were both at the same point in time at once, as both adventures would be running concurrently.

What if Bill is the one of the original Cybermen in the Tenth Planet?

I LOVED this episode! Here are a few thoughts-
-Regeneration!!!!
-"Hello, I'm Doctor Who."-Loved it! Apart from the dab, I was cringing.
-"These are my disposables, exposition and comic relief."-why are you going, Michelle?
-I love how we were all so worried for Bill when she went to the hospital-we all obviously knew they were early Mondasian Cyberman, and her not knowing made it all the more tragic.
-Why is DWA finishing? They needed to give us the Sonic marker pen!
-Bill hugged the Master. I see a lot of Fan Fictions.
-This would have been a billion times better if we didn't know the Master was in it.
-Cyber-Bill! I love her, but I hope she stays dead-another reset button would take away all threat.
-Next Time!!!

Actually DWA nearly have done that. The sonic with the final release splits into a pen on the upper section just like how it appears in the episode although it isn't exactly a marker.

this is definitely a big set up. There's no way there going actually make Bill become a cyberman permanently. As nice as it would be, this is Moffat's last season finale, obviously he's going to stick to his stupid traditions. I'll be annoyed about how emotional I got, and the fact I made a tribute to Bill as well.
