Re: Smile Episode two

I am one of the few people actually looking forward to this. I hate the writer because it's the same one from the Forest of the Night, but it's these kind of one-time episodes that I would always get a takeaway and sit down in front of my computer on Saturday night (my computer has a Sky Q box connected to it) and turn out all the lights. I can't wait to have that feeling again tonight. The ones where Doctor Who did something new. Sleep No More, Time Heist and Listen are all very clear examples of this from my own personal view.

I wonder did the Forest of the Night come out the way he intended.
I am looking forward to it, looks creepy.

One other thing I love about these kind of episodes is how they put forward genuinely terrifying possibilities.

What if indeed out of our entire language, all that survives are emojis years in the future?

Same, I'm sort of looking forward to it but the fact it's by Frank Cottrell-Boyce puts me off. Also, some of the costumes look a bit daft and I'm not sure I can take the Emojibots seriously, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.

I am on the same level as you Dalek. My biggest concern is that I'm getting hyped for an episode that will be flawed in so many ways.

Does anyone know if Nardole will be in this episode? He hasn't been in any of the teasers, nor was Matt Lucas sighted in any of the filming pics for this episode.

Well did you all enjoy it? I did and I liked the robots. Echoes of the Chase and the City of Mechanoids and The Happiness Patrol.
Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie are a great pairing.

I wonder if when drawing up the story plans Moffat felt obliged to go back and have another go at the Nerva evacuation period after being disappointed by The Beast Below.

I enjoyed it to be honest. It was definitely better than the Pilot.

Frank Cotrell-Boyce has definitely redeemed himself after Forest of the Night. The emojibots were a better villain then i expected, and the way how Earth's development affected Bill definitely had a connection.

Although there is one glaring error with this episode. The Doctor and Bill actually managed to make it all the way back to the TARDIS without the Vardies catching them? There were billions of those microbots and they were definitely faster than the protagonists.

I also liked how it linked with the following episode.

I loved the ending as the Tardis has landed in the wrong place and time like it used to in the classic era.

No offence to Doctor Who, but Black Mirror is on a whole different level to that episode. I can understand why they would see similarities, but Black Mirror is alot different and a lot more "mind-imploding" whereas the concept in this episode was more simple as it was one that had been done before in Doctor Who. Remember? The Empty Child and the Doctor Dances? It was one of those scenarios where the "villain" got the wrong end of the stick and later right their wrongs.

Black Mirror doesn't re-use concepts for one, and also doesn't re-use characters. I kid you not, it's a completely different cast and story each episode.

I quite enjoyed it, it was flawed but decent. My major problem was Ralf Little-he's such a good actor usually, and I just felt like he had better things to do on that day.
