"The Pilot" Questions & Discontinuity

Post by LastOfTheSonics on Thu 20 Apr 2017 - 18:41

Yep, it's another one of these. Now let me make it clear that these topics aren't at all designed to tear down the episodes in any way, they are merely to point out errors I have noticed and questions I still have after watching the episode.

-In the Doctor's lecture, the same student appears in three different places all in the same shot.
-I get that the Doctor was testing how far Heather would go and where, but risking Bill's life by taking her to a war between two ruthless races? Really?
-How exactly did the Doctor acquire half of the screwdrivers in the pot considering half of them had been destroyed either on-screen or in Big Finish productions?
-Is Nardole's body robotic now apart from his head?
-This is a common oversight in most episode's, but I feel like I have to say it, how did no one in the Australia scene see the TARDIS materialise? There was over a dozen people there.
-"Pilot confirmed!" Oh yay, we have a really creepy new possibly good monster on our hands! But instead let's focus on fanbait villains Daleks and the Movellans!... For about 5 seconds.
-What type of Monster even was Heather in the first place?
-How did Heather even discover the puddle in the first place?
-So the first person to be taken by the puddle just so happens to be someone with a star-iris defect so that the Doctor can identify the mirage dalek later?
-If Heather was set free of Bill's promise, where exactly did she go? I mean by the Doctor it's implied that she still exists somewhere in the universe.

I imagine he just recreated most of the screwdrivers for nostalgia reasons. If he really had been at St. Luke's for 70 years, he must have been doing something to keep himself entertained.

How could you miss the most important question?

When Bill said "penguin with its arse on fire", I immediately worked out the implication.

The sixth doctor once had a penguin-companion in Big Finish called Frobisher. When writing Tochwood: Children of Earth, Russell T. Davies threw in a reference by calling one of the characters "John Frobisher". And do you know who played John Frobisher in Torchwood?

Reference or coincidence?

Before Big Finish, Frobisher was in the comic strips first and The Eternal Dalek pointed it out as well Smile
