The Time Monster

Post by Admin-Emperor Dalek on Thu 2 Feb 2017 - 16:25

A look at some behind the scenes photos and info on this season 9 story.
Time Monster facts -tweets and photos from WHO SFX @WhoSFX on twitter. Do check them out, very nice chaps:)
1st picture) The left-hand ‘Police Public Call Box’ sign was smashed during this sequence – and it was never replaced!
2nd Smile The TARDIS light does not flash as it dematerialises because the lamp was broken. It was fixed in time for studio recording.
3rd ) Tim Gleeson designed a new TARDIS set for The Time Monster.
4th) Gleeson designed the new fascias on the TARDIS walls. Barry Letts disliked them as he felt they looked like washing-up bowls.
5th ) At the centre of each ‘washing-up bowl’ was a translucent, backlit frosted PVC panel.
6 & 7th) Minor modifications were made to the console so it could accommodate the Time Sensor prop. The Time Sensor was placed into the same cavity that had previously housed the dematerialization circuit in The Curse of Peladon. Industrial design company Magna Dove owned the TARDIS console which had to be hired by the BBC every time it was needed.
8th) Contrary to popular-held belief, the walls did not warp in storage.
9th) The walls appeared in Death to the Daleks, Planet of Evil & Pyramids of Mars with the 'washing-up bowls' removed
10 & 11) The TARDIS set was re-dressed to represent the Master’s Tardis. The Master’s TARDIS had a different central column, a doorway to the right of the camera and different furniture.
The central column in the Master’s TARDIS was fitted with internal lighting
12) Rehearsal shot of Pertwee against the mock-up wall. The central column was removed from the console and placed in the foreground
13 ) Rehearsal shot of Jon Pertwee on the TARDIS set. Note the handcuffs dangling down from the console
14) INGRID PITT: My costume must have revealed one of the biggest expanses of bosom ever seen on Doctor Who!
15) Fantastic rehearsal shot from The Time Monster featuring Donald Eccles, Ingrid Pitt and Roger Delgado.
16 & 17 ) Another few rehearsal shots.
