They have a slight advantage now as Thetamation is moving onto their second story. They have the First Doctor already in their portfolio, which will save them time developing the character animations for him as most movements and artwork will already be made. Also, doing The Tenth Planet adds in Ben and Polly which makes releases with the two of them more feasible as those are two less characters that need to be prepared (so we are more likely to see The Underwaer Menace or The Moonbase in future).

For instance, there are fourteen credited characters in the two missing episodes of The Reign of Terror. The Tenth Planet's missing episode would need eleven different character models, so having the First Doctor already knocks it down to ten.

Dan Hall is at a convention in Australia, Crusade is not being considered for release at the moment. At the convention they are getting a first look at Tenth Planet part 4.

Update. There was supposed to be an announcement today, but now Dan Hall says there will be an announcement in a few weeks time on Doctor Who TV (the BBC site) about future animations. I don't know why they just can't tell us what is going on.

Stever Roberts part of the restoration team:
I'm afraid I didn't even know there *was* a 50th anniversary site until a few days ago. I have no knowledge of what goes onto it or when, I'm afraid. All I know is that there is some announcement related to Ice warriors supposed to be made this coming week.

The problem will be, somebody will mention it to someone at some point, possibly using a different name (probablly "BBC Worldwide's site" or something like that) and they won't know where it ends up, just that it will end up somewhere.

So 99 more to animate then, double digits at last. Hopefully the missing episode counter will do the same at some point in the near future.

With two studios doing animation I wonder will there be other stories with more than two episodes missing.

The restriction is being enforced by BBC Worldwide, but the current guidelines still allow for three stories to be produced in animated form (although The Wheel in Space could be done over two releases) which given the current animation rate will keep them going until 2014 (or 2015 if they really want The Wheel in Space) so they still have some time to play with.

Doctor Who DVD Files

Post by Dalek on Mon Mar 18, 2013 4:09 pm

Who collects this?
After a test run in 2008, the magazine launched in 2009, with a two story disc with Rose and The End of the World, and is still going strong today. Subscribers like myself should have recieved issues 108, with Arc of Infinity, and 109, with Meglos, in the post on Saturday. The next issue, which contains the story Planet of the Spiders, is due out soon.
What is your opinion?

Can I ask that this just be changed to DVDs in general rather than news specifically? It's because I'd like to post about my latest DVDs, and the latest ones I got signed, and it's not really news.
I got The Trial of a Time Lord set on Saturday from Cash Converters for just £5! Then, I got Planet of the Spiders and Revenge of the Cybermen via DVD Files on Monday, which also came with a free binder.
Then, I went to a convention on Sunday, where I got 2 copies of Robot and 3 copies of The Five Doctors (Plus Krotons and Inferno books) signed by Terrance Dicks, Series 4 Volume 1 and DVD Files Part 23 (Plus DWM 391 and autograph page) signed by Keith Temple, DVD Files Part 85 (Plus Autograph Page) signed by Andrew Smith and Bernard Padden, plus 2 DWM's by Adrian Salmon. It was good, I also got a free fanzine. The host was good, and the schedule was nicely laid out.

You mean the extras?

Also I read on another site this about the regeneration box set:

I have heard from a couple of people who have apparently heard what
it is. Normally they are quite reliable with their sources. According to
them its a 5 story box set with 10th planet war games planet of spiders
logopolis and androzani with no extras. Limited edition numbered and
the only way to get tenth planet till later in the year in a 2 disc
format. Could have just been an April fool though but i did hear the
same info from about 5 different people. We shall soon see.

It's interesting in that the same animation team that completed Hartnell's "Reign of Terror" is also completing Tenth Planet, while Ice Wariors is using the same look as the animation they put together for Invasion. Between ROT and Invasion, I like the latter style more but I'm really glad they're finishing off those adventures

AND, I was on amazon the other day and was able to pre-order Tenth Planet, Ice Warriors, Mind of Evil, Terror of the Zygons

PLUS----and I wasn't even aware they were planning this---Scream of the shalka AND Troughton's "Moonbase", undoubtedly with them animating episodes 1 and 3!

That's the US Amazon which is where the confusion is coming from.
The Tenth Planet still doesn't have a date and The Moonbase hasn't had any official confirmation yet(although it has been "practically confirmed" as has animation). The Underwater Menace is under condieration as well, we might be waiting a while for The Crusade though.

From the Doctor Who news page:

The British Video Association lists the following titles under the
umbrella theme of The Monster Collection, all currently cited for the
8th July: Cybermen, Davros, Silurians, Sontarans, The Daleks and The
Master.

The schedule may well change again in the coming months, but BBC
Worldwide have confirmed this week that Inferno (full release details
here) is still planned for release at the end of next month.

(Eagle-eyed readers will have noticed the absence of the "Regeneration"
boxed set from the lists above - as of writing though Amazon and the BBC
Shop have it listed for the 10th June, the BVA have listed it as
"pulled from schedule". BBC Worldwide have not currently released any
further details about the set or its status.

Wow, Those up coming Who DVDs are so cool especially the blu ray sets featuring Peter Cushing. Just bought today finally Hartnell's Reign of Terror DVD to add to the vast collection as up till now my money's been spent on other items. Can't wait to see it and others listed! Cool

Yeah course I will. As said my time recently been preoccupied with buying other things so my DVD buying was limited but finally I was able to get a copy for £9.85 on eBay. Out of interest the two episodes redone in animation are they the same style as the The Invasion story cartoon or similar? Question

Similar but different. Different company did them. They have two animating studios working on the DVDs.

Oh.. Cool, Thanks. On my trawling of youtube I've come across some excellent Animation especially CGI and was wondering when or if a compete story lost using the original soundtrack and script will ever be made. Granted the tech is expensive but computer graphics is way cheaper than ever. The only hope if not by the BBC that a rich fan with time and passion does the job. Smile

BBC Worldwide America are deleting from their catalouge 19 of the classic series titles.. They will not be restocked this year, but they did not
rule out their being re-released in some form in the long-term future.
Some of these already have been sold off and this is why some of them
are being sold for much higher prices by resellers now.
Think they will remain on sale in the UK.

First Doctor
The Rescue/The Romans
The Web Planet
The Time Meddler
The Gunfighters

Second Doctor
The Invasion
The War Games

Third Doctor
Terror of the Autons
The Time Monster
Planet of the Spiders
(Also Inferno and The Green Death but these are being replaced with Special Editions.)

Fourth Doctor - None

Fifth Doctor
The Visitation
Black Orchid
Time-Flight
The Awakening
Frontios
Planet of Fire

Sixth Doctor
The Mark of the Rani
The Two Doctors

Seventh Doctor
Battlefield
Ghost Light
The Curse of Fenric

I will probably buy that Regeneration set as I like the book, but I have most of the DVDs.
